Portgual Cristiano Ronaldo beat France in the final of the last tournament while England crashed in the round of 16 to Iceland.

Now all eyes are starting to turn to next summer as Europe becomes a dream to lift the famous trophy in London.

The competition will consist of 24 teams with six groups.

The top two teams in each group will advance to Round 16 with the fourth team eliminated.

The four highest third tier teams will also enter the knockout phase with two more gong teams.

The tournament will progress through a knockout phase before the champion is crowned.

Unlike the World Cup, there will be no third place in the Euros.

Twenty teams got finals through qualifying groups, with four players through the new play system.

Qualification for UEFA EURO 2020 remains the same (with 24 finalists in all), although the European Qualifiers start earlier than usual - March after the big tournament instead of September (i.e. March 2019 and not September 2018 in this case). No team automatically qualifies as a host (there are 12 host countries in all).
